Earlier this month, NKJ informed us that they intend to close our club at the end of the month in order to sell the building. We are currently in discussions with them regarding keeping our club active at our current location or getting further support once the club is closed.

At this point we would like to ask two things of everyone in the Go community:

A. Show up on Tuesday November 30th, so that our last day at the New York Go Center can be as awesome as possible. Also, a representative from Japan will be visiting us at that time and we would like to show her the size and spirit of the community which they intend to close.

B. Contact us with any ideas you might have for helping the Center to continue and keeping the NY Go community thriving even without our current location. We would also appreciate hearing back from you about how you feel about the Go Center closing and how it would affect you.

On a brighter note:

On Sunday November 28th, we will be having a closing/holiday party at the New York Go Center. A dinner will be prepared by Elad (a chef and one of our members). We will also provide sodas and water. We ask for a small donation to cover the cost of the dinner, or if you’d like to bring either a 6 pack of your favorite beer, some wine, snacks, etc. instead feel free to do so.

There will be live music starting at 8 o’clock. The lead singer from the band Kagero will be joined by one of our members, Roman Kudryashov on guitar.

Please RSVP if you plan to come so that we can make sure there is enough food and drinks for everyone.

Hello everyone!

We, at the New York Go Center, thought it would be nice to have a blog to post news about events that we have.   We are very proud to present our new website!!

In other news, There will be new managment of the go center.  Boris Bernadsky, 1D will be working Tues-Thurs as well as Saturday and Sundays.  Fridays will be covered by Matthew Hershberger 3D until further notice.

As school has started we are starting to see some new faces at the center.  Many people who started attending earlier this year as beginners are already single digit kyus!
